PF+A are proud to announce the newest member of our team, Hamish Hargreaves, to head up the growing Jersey studio. Having worked both in Australia and the Middle East, his vast portfolio will bring an international outlook and world of knowledge to the company and we are eager to see what is to come. Although born in Australia- Hamish’s Family are Jersey Islanders, having always maintained their connection with the Island. When Hamish was a child, his parents built their family home in remote Western Australia using adobe and rammed earth. After witnessing first-hand the joy of how a building can be created simply from the earth that we walk on, his architectural passion began. That same enthusiasm has carried him through an architectural career spanning 20 years, across the globe. For the first few years of his career, Hamish worked across many renowned firms in Perth before becoming responsible for COX Architecture’s Middle East Operations. During his time there, he secured several big projects for the company in competition against the top global firms. His most recent project, one of three landmark pavilions for the 2020 World Expo, sits comfortably alongside pavilions being delivered by Fosters, Grimshaws and Calatrava. PF+A’s director John Hibbs commented: "PF+A believe in enhancing people's lives, not just our clients' but also our employees and the wider community. Hamish has this ethos built-in. He's successful, erudite and kind and can articulate PF+A's vision clearly and passionately. We're thrilled he's decided to join our family." Hamish’s style is indisputable, and really quite beautiful, something that will grace Jersey’s stunning landscape. The award-winning Albany Entertainment Centre Hamish worked on in Australia exemplifies his highflying character he puts forth in his designs and personality. Situated in a bay where the mountain meets the shore, the form of the Albany Entertainment Centre is jagged in its response to the natural surroundings and it’s sculptural quality has made it iconic within the community. Hamish has also been an integral part of the design and construction of a very important Museum, which, when completed next year is set to become the largest Museum in the Middle East- surpassing in size and scale of Jean Nouvel’s recently completed Louvre Abu Dhabi. Despite the busy person he was whilst working in the Middle East, Hamish still made time to visit his beloved family home in St Ouens for summers. This time Hamish is back to the island for good, spending his time renovating the family home when he isn’t creating amazing architecture with PF+A – and we couldn’t be more excited.
