Founder’s Story
Hello! I’m the great Peter Falla of PF+A and over the next 12 months I am hoping to share with you what it takes to grow a company from nothing into a company that supports me doing exactly what I love. Walking you through my life, I will be able to share with you all the highs and lows that I have encountered in the growth, strengthening and diversifying of PF+A.
My love of solving problems and communicating solutions all began when I was 15, as a young boy at St Peter Port Secondary School. I was fascinated by technical drawing brought on by my teacher and future States member Peter Sherbourne. He kindly arranged my first work placement which formed the career path I chose. Going on to gain my further education in the UK, I was privileged enough to stay with a wartime evacuee from Guernsey who never returned, giving me a different perspective on life and growing my appreciation of people’s potential. My work took me across the globe, working in Nigeria for two years developing rural electrification and water supplies for remote villages – a tribute to my technical knowledge.
Taking all my experiences and passion for enriching people’s lives, I began Peter Falla and Associates in 1995. I am a firm believer in helping out the community, which in turn is reflected in the success of PF+A, a company seeking to do just that. Now at 20 staff strong across the Channel Islands (with 3 more coming on board during this year), we have not got here without the hard work, perseverance and dedication of both myself and the team and I couldn’t be prouder of what we have collectively achieved.
Last year was a significant moment for both myself and PF+A as I handed on the baton of CEO to John Hibbs, recognising the potential that his passion and energy could bring to the company. Continuing as an ambassador, I remain an integral member sharing my insights of the sector and business skills to the next generation of PF+A and the wider community. I hope in this series to share the ins and outs of what formed such a lively business for you to understand and begin to apply in practice too.
