Herm Is Where the Heart Is

There are several reasons why people look forward to summer; the glorious weather, the longer days and the copious amounts of ice cream, but at PF+A we have even more of a reason - the annual office trip to Herm. Without a doubt, it is the most-anticipated event on the PF+A calendar; a day of adventure, laughter and a chance to put our volleyball skills to the test whilst developing the sociable and friendly atmosphere we are so recognised for. At PF+A, it’s not all about work, it’s about being part of our family and fostering trust and confidence within all of our people.

As the two offices united in St. Peter Port, the sun was shining and everyone was brimming with excitement for the adventure that laid awaiting us. All aboard Peter’s boat, we sped across the sea to the little gem of Herm. The sea was not forgiving as the boat hit the waves and many staff stepped forward to protect the others from the spray coming up, sacrificing themselves to be drenched from head-to-toe.

Once moored, we were greeted by the turquoise waters and sandy beaches as Peter whipped off to fetch the rest of the team. Herm laid the perfect backdrop for the team’s day in paradise. On the island, we were treated to a huge lunch to fuel us for the esteemed PF+A volleyball match under the beaming sun. After lunch, we walked across the island and for all we knew, we could have been in the Caribbean.

Shell Beach boasted a long stretch of sand that glistened in the sun and felt soft between the toes - perfect for the annual game of volleyball. Everyone joined in; regardless of age, athletic ability or indeed level of alcohol consumption. Staff were diving and jumping, limbs flying everywhere. The games were close and as the old saying goes, it turned out everyone was a winner.

Before we knew it, the day had drawn to a close and we were left with memories to reminisce and a few burnt noses as a souvenir of our trip. Through all the sand-covered fun, the team had never felt so close and we all thoroughly look forward to our next trip.
